If you like to capture both above-water and underwater themes in the frame at the same time, which is what professional underwater photographers call the 50/50 split shot, then the size of the external lens used is the most important factor to consider; if the diameter of the lens is too small, even a weak wave can disrupt the image composition. Therefore, without using an external wide-angle lens, it is almost impossible to capture a 50/50 split shot.

However, most of current wide-angle lenses for action cameras on the market are with diameters of approximately 90 to 110 millimeter, which is still insufficient in size. Few similar products with a diameter large enough can only be used for snorkeling activities and cannot be taken to the depth of recreational diving, otherwise they will be squeezed by water pressure, in the results of deformed or damaged.

DIVEVERYDAY® launches the first private-label lens product, D150 DOME, its size is 150mm in diameter, which is the maximum size that can be placed on the lens holder above the upper handle bar and between the ball heads on both sides for maintaining portability.

The assembly of custom 6mm thickness of the dome and aluminum barrel with double O-Ring sealing reaching 60 meters of waterproof depth, it can withstand the pressure of depths of typical recreational diving.

Lightweight design: The front dome is made of optical-grade polycarbonate, with a total weight of only 485 grams. And additionally, the cost of subsequent maintenance is also taken into consideration, even if the entire dome unit needs to be replaced due to an accidental serious collision, the price is still lower than the cost of polishing and repairing glass dome.

The BBAR coating of the rear lens maintains optimal light transmittance, resulting in clearer and sharper images.

Considering the significant resistance caused by its size, we chose to use the aluminum lens hood and M67 connector for greater protection and stability.

This versatile lens is the most professional choice for action camera enthusiasts who plan to capture 50/50 shots and underwater wide-angle footages.

MAINTAINANCE

  • Be sure to rinse thoroughly with clean fresh water after each use to avoid any residual seawater, salt or dirt.
  • Pay special attention to keeping the lens clean when cleaning; otherwise, residual sand or foreign matter may cause scratches.
  • After rinsing, please make sure no water droplets left on both front and rear end of the lens to avoid water stains.
  • If long-term storage is required, avoid humid conditions and store in a cool, dry place for better storage.
